Stay by Deb Caletti

Goodreads Summary:
Clara's relationship with Christian is intense from the start, and like nothing she’s ever experienced before. But what starts as devotion quickly becomes obsession, and it's almost too late before Clara realizes how far gone Christian is—and what he's willing to do to make her stay.
Now Clara has left the city—and Christian—behind. No one back home has any idea where she is, but she still struggles to shake off her fear. She knows Christian won't let her go that easily, and that no matter how far she runs, it may not be far enough....

_________________________________________

Clara...typical teenager who feels as though she is in love with this boy she first meets at a basketball game.  The relationship continues on in a way that makes Clara feel that his boy loves her and she loves him and they'll be together forever.  Sounds like a normal teenage relationship, right?  Wrong.

Christian is OBSESSED with Clara.  He is insecure and feels as though she would cheat on him or leave him at any moment.  He follows her around.  He checks-up on her and makes sure she is where she says she'll be.  He brings up past relationships and can't let them go.  He is crazy.

When Clara finally decides that it's time to let this boy go, she can't.  She feels the need to keep telling him to "leave her alone" when he sends e-mail after e-mail or call after call.  This contact makes him feel as though she is still in love with him and misses him and they can be together.

Finally, her dad decides this is enough and takes her away.  She changes her phone number.  She tells her friends she is going to Europe instead of where she is really going in hopes that Christian won't find out and find her.  Then, Clara makes the mistake of calling her best friend when things are going GREAT!  Her friend now knows her new phone number and where she really is.  Christian finds out and follows her.  She can feel his eyes on her, but tries to convince herself that it isn't really.  Until one night...she's all alone...he finds her.

Clara goes through an journey in this book.  She finds out who she is and that she can learn to trust again.  She learns more about the relationship she felt so strongly about.  She also learns what really happened to her mother when she was younger.  Both Clara and her father find happiness in this new little beach town and the final decision comes down to...stay or go?

All I can say is what a great book!  The story is amazing, the footnotes are great.  I laughed and worried all together.  I felt happy for Clara and sad at the same time.  The story keeps a fast pace to the end.  This would be a fantastic beach/summer read.
