Reading Road Trip: Wisconsin Style! + Giveaway

It's time to spotlight Wisconsin on the Reading Road Trip 2012.  Reading Road Trip is hosted by Britta from I Like These Books and Hafsah from Icey Books.  I'm so excited to be a part of this! This is the first year that Reading Road Trip is taking place, and basically for the month of July various blogs will be posting a giveaway for a different state.

I chose Wisconsin because that's where I'm from!

This was so much more difficult than I thought.  So, I ended up choosing a book that took place in Wisconsin.  I'm excited because this also happens to be a newly released novel.  It sounds very interesting, and I'll be picking up a copy for myself as well.

On to the details...the giveaway is US only (sorry peeps, this girl is broke!).  I will be giving away one copy of....

Goodreads Summary:
There are stories where the girl gets her prince, and they live happily ever after. (This is not one of those stories.)

Jenna Lord’s first sixteen years were not exactly a fairytale. Her father is a controlling psycho and her mother is a drunk. She used to count on her older brother—until he shipped off to Afghanistan. And then, of course, there was the time she almost died in a fire.

There are stories where the monster gets the girl, and we all shed tears for his innocent victim. (This is not one of those stories either.)

Mitch Anderson is many things: A dedicated teacher and coach. A caring husband. A man with a certain... magnetism.

And there are stories where it’s hard to be sure who’s a prince and who’s a monster, who is a victim and who should live happily ever after. (These are the most interesting stories of all.)

Drowning Instinct is a novel of pain, deception, desperation, and love against the odds—and the rules.

I live in Iowa! Princesses of Iowa and Ashfall both take place in my adopted home state. (If I went by my home state, Illinois, there would be too many to list!) I think there are a lot of children's book authors in Iowa, but I just learned (via the road trip!) that Jill Hathaway is from Iowa. :) Thank you for the giveaway. Love Wisconsin!

I'm from WI too! I knew Ilsa Bick was from here, but I don't really know of any other YA authors that live in WI. I think Andrea Cremer is from here, but lives somewhere else now. Thanks for the chance to win!

I don't really pay attention to where authors are from, but tons of books are set in California. I just finished two:
Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry
Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris

A couple of others I've read and enjoyed:
Struck by Jennifer Bosworth
Shadowlands by Meg Cabot

I don't know any authors from my state. But May B by Caroline Starr Rose is set in Kansas.

Holy cats, yes! Washington was home to Cheri Priest until recently, among many many others.

Trust me, you do NOT want to miss out on this book. I read it in January and I still can't stop thinking about it. In fact, I'll be reading it again this summer, which is something I rarely do. It was that good!

I think April Lynn Pike and Stephenie Meyer are from my state but I'm not 100% sure. Thanks for the giveaway! :D

I love Carl Hiaasen's books! His books are all set in Florida, where he lives as well! My favorite is Hoot, which is about the preservation of these adorable burrowing owls. Such a good book, and a good movie too.

Without giving away my state we r as southern as they come, bless our hearts! And for some odd reasons that makes us the recipients of quite a number of novels where the struggle is to get up and outta here.

One of the best writers of our time was born in my state of Illinois - Ray Bradbury <3

His story, Homecoming, definitely showed the creepier aspect of rural America :)

Thanks for this amazing giveaway!
