Matched (Matched #1) by Ally Condie

Goodreads Summary:
Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

_________________________________________

The Society is an interesting concept.  A world in which Society makes all choices for you.  They decide who you will be matched with, what you will eat, what you will do, and what you will wear.  Nothing happens without the Society's knowledge.  Cassia is put through a situation that she hasn't imagined.  It looks as though Society has messed up her match.  She sees the face of Xander and Ky.  This makes her wonder, has Society made a mistake?  The situations and questions she faces are often left with another question rather than answers.  The information she discovers in the end is nothing she expected, but something she should have.

I couldn't help think about how it would be to live in a situation like this.  I honestly do not believe I could do it.  You are unable to make decisions for yourself, but rather Society chooses so the optimal results are obtained.  I would prefer to make decisions on my own, make my own mistakes, and learn from them.  I like to think that the mistakes I make are leading me down the path towards happiness!  The Society was interesting to learn about, and I can't wait to see where Cassia ends up in the next book of this series.
