This week's question is:
A Book Blogger is Born: What made you decide to start your very own book blog?
Interesting question. One that probably doesn't have the answer you're thinking. From what I've seen, most book bloggers started one after roaming around and seeing so many other book blogs online. I wasn't like that. I had decided to take part in the 2011 Goodreads Challenge for the number of books I could read in a year. I was aiming for 75 books that year (to start with).
When I decided to attempt this, I realized I wanted a place that I could keep a record of the books I read. I wanted to be able to look back at the books I read and recall some of the details I had forgotten. I even remember whether or not I liked a book, and why. Sometimes, I don't remember every single book I've ever read. Maybe that's just me. Anyway, that is how this blog was born.
From there, I started to peruse the internet and found a TON of other book blogs. I had some favorites in the beginning that I learned from, and I'm always finding new favorites along the way. I discovered Twitter and how much fun it can actually be interacting with all of these people who love books as much as I do. I didn't have that before. I'm the only reader in my group of friends, and in the family.
In the beginning, I got made fun of a lot. I was told I wouldn't make it. That this book blog would fail. I was also made fun of when I switched to reviewing mostly YA books on this blog. I find them all to be so amazing. They are more than I ever could have imagined they would be.
As for this blog, it isn't very big. I don't have a ton of followers. I don't get a million books for review, but I enjoy what I do. I enjoy picking my own schedule of what to read. I like not having the pressure of having to review a ton of books by a certain date. This is just my fun little place to get away and enjoy the time I get to talk about the books I enjoy.
Enough of my rambling...why did you start your book blog?
