TGIF (19): Dec. 9, 2011

TGIF is a feature at GReads which recaps the posts for the week and has a different question each week for bloggers to answer.

This Friday's Question:

Book to Movie: Which book turn movie do you feel did the best adaptation? What about the worst?

This is a tough question.  I have a hard time with books being made into movies.  Most of the time I'm disappointed with the way a book was made into a movie.  They never seem to be much alike, and sometimes the differences are overwhelming.  I always feel like the movie takes away from the value of the book.  Anyway, since I don't really have a best that I can think of, I'm going to tell you a couple that I didn't like.

1. The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.  I loved this book and felt like it had so much heart and soul.  The movie, however, I felt didn't have the depth that I found in the book.

2.  Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.  I found this book so funny and entertaining, but the movie seemed to just drag on and was pretty boring.

So those are two that I can think of off hand.  There are books that were made into movies that I can't wait to see!  Those are:

The Help by Kathryn Stockett
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Have you seen either of the first two?  What did you think?  What are some books to movies that you think  I should check out?  Let me know in the comments, I'd love to hear from you!
