Left Neglected by Lisa Genova
Synopsis: A poignant novel about a busy, vibrant woman in her 30s who has a car accident, leaving her to deal with a crippling disorder called left neglect.

The synopsis for Genova's second novel does not do it justice. The woman in this book is a vibrant woman struggling to balance the life between work and home. It is this struggle that ultimately leads to the car accident which leaves this woman with a condition called "Left Neglect." I had never heard of this condition before, but it is something I could not imagine dealing with. She struggles to maintain her hold on her current life while coming to the realization that life will never be the same. We see her pain and struggles and ultimately her joy and success in finding out the true meaning of what life is about. I have not read Genova's first novel, but I certainly plan on it now. The book was greatly written and focused on overcoming a disorder rather than letting it control your life. This is a story of hope and survival in today's overbearing society.
